At LONG last, David and I got to see the amazing new film Blue Valentine, which stars Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling, last night here in LA and I am happy to report that the movie was WELL worth the wait. David and I met up with our BFFs Darion and Emma at the ArcLight in Hollywood, CA for the showing … and hands down, we all loved it entirely.

Without question, Blue Valentine is a beautiful and painful movie to watch. Without the need for special effects, 3D or big action scenes, BV is able to deliver one of the most powerful films released this year. The storyline of the film never ventures outside of the simple story of a long love affair between who people, complete with hills and valleys of happiness and despair. I was quite taken with how meaty the film is considering how simple-sounding the plot actually is. The story jumps between two opposing time periods … showcasing times of extreme happiness and extreme sadness in the relationship. Williams and Gosling expertly portray these very real characters in such a way that it’s hard to believe they were acting. Raw, real … painfully normal … Blue Valentine is just a stunning portrait of one ordinary couple’s complicated life. There has been much talk about how the film got slapped with an NC-17 rating but you can forget all about that bullshizz. There is nothing pornographic in this film … it’s just a stark look at the good and bad things about love. I loved this film, no question. It’s not a happy film but it’s one that I think y’all should check out.

Tonight, I’m gettin’ in my car and I’m trekkin’ down South to San Diego to see the Dresden Dolls in concert. It’s been a long time since I’ve roadtripped for a concert but I’m really excited to see the band LIVE for the first time. It should be a blast :)

But because so much incorrect information has been going around regarding Britney‘s new album, many people are choosing not to believe [...]

On Tuesday I posted my Top Albums of 2010 and yesterday I was planning to post my list of my fave films of the year … but I had to push back one day so I could see one more film to determine if it was worthy of making my Top 10 list. And so, without further ado, here is my personal list of the Top Movies of 2010.

Number 10 — Piranha 3D:

The B-Movie was back this year and it came in the form of the hilariously silly yet entirely entertaining film Piranha 3D. No movie this year had more blood, boobs and severed penis than Piranha 3D … which, of course, means that the film should be lauded in some small way. While the serious, well-acted, well-written, incredibly creative films will be honored by the big movie award ceremonies next year, I think there is something to be said for the silly “popcorn movies” that manage to entertain for 90 minutes in the most frivolously fun way. Piranha 3D is no cinematic masterpiece … but it’s a damn good time at the movies … and it deffo made my list of fave films for 2010.

Angelina's lawyer has already made a statement about the incident, saying, "We believe Angelina is innocent of any allegations and if there is any legal action, we will fight it vigorously."

Thankfully Gerard did NOT take a page from the Russell Crowe playbook (who got himself into a bit of trouble a few years ago when he went all Naomi Campbell on a poor unsuspecting hotel concierge when he assaulted him with a telephone). It used to be that in order to discover new music, the average person had to listen to the radio or, eventually, watch music channels like MTV. This used to be a more enjoyable experience, as radio stations were individually owned and DJs were generally obsessed music fans who had a large degree of control over what new music to play. These days, however, the vast majority of radio stations are owned by multinational media conglomerates, and playlists are almost without fail predetermined in corporate offices and broadcast around the country without alteration. There are even some radio stations, such as the ubiquitous JACKFM, that have scrapped the DJ format all together, instead pre-programming playlists and broadcasting them across the country. And music television stations were universalists from the get-go: there was never an amazing about of consumer or individual control over what got played on the video channels.

This weekend in NYC will be really quick tho … David and I fly back to LA on Sunday night. I plan on making the most of time tho ;)

Tonight I’m seeing Sleep No More again (woot!) then will be meeting up with my girl Tiffany who I know online thru my friends Tam, Rob, Ollie and Caleb. I believe I’ll also be meeting their friend Travis as well so … should be fun. But before that, we’ve got birthday stuff to do so … it’s gonna be a bit of a bizzy day.
